My Project
One part of many of my job in speech therapy is to help kids with sound errors. I have learned and have grown so much in how I approach speech sound disorders. Drilling can be very boring for the kids, yet very much needed to have the most success. I have made cute visuals for words with sounds being addressed to use while taking turns during games. These mini trinket doodads not only allow for visual representation of the sound but also tactile. They are like mini toys so who wouldn't love something like that! I think this will add an element of fun as the kids practice their words seeing these mini toys. I also have had a lot of students that struggle with their R sounds. I bet you didn't know that there are so many different R sounds, and not just one to learn! In grad school we are not taught how to support the R in therapy and I have learned over time, always trying to new ideas. I have been following and watching videos from Graham Speech Therapy that have been very informative. I love this bundle connected with Bjorem Speech because it gives a class, an inventory and facilitative contexts to figure out what R is most accurate to begin therapy. These items would add a lot to my speech room!
