My students need and would strongly benefit from this iPad and accessories because it provides a service delivery method that increases interest and motivation.
The students I service range from preschool to eighth grade.
These students have a speech or language impairment in one or more of the following areas: artiulation, syntax, morphology, semantics, pragmatics, voice, or fluency.
Difficulty in these areas make communicating a daily challenge.
My students enjoy and look forward to their speech sessions, and are eager to learn. Even though communicating is a challenge, it does not hinder their willingness to particpate in the speech room or in their general education classrooms.
My Project
Students retain more information when their interest and motivation are peaked.
An iPad can help teach my students their speech and language skills through a variety of ways: auditory feedback, following directions, and specialized apps.
Apps can also be used in more ways than just their intended purpose in order maximize the goals targeted.
Additionally, the printer would be of strong help because most of my students only have access to black and white photos. Research shows that color photos are more beneficial to a child's learning. I would be able to create color homework sheets, token economy boards, social stories, and data progress reports to help my students with their speech and language goals, behavior reinforcement, social skills, and progress monitoring.
