it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The special education preschool students I teach are excited to learn but need help developing their speech and language to communicate and better understand the world around them. As a new speech teacher this year, I am excited to help my students make progress. Being a Title I school, many of the students I work with are underserved and need additional help to succeed academically. This project can provide some of that additional help.
By donating to this project, you will not only help my students improve their speech and language skills, but you will be contributing to their long-term improved academic performance.
Communication is vital to accessing the general curriculum and making progress on their speech, language, and academic goals. Research has shown that the earlier we can intervene with communication issues, the greater impact we can have academically overall.
All of my students can benefit from the requested language folder and box activities by building such language skills as understanding associations through sorting and comparing items. Many of my students have articulation goals, and the requested articulation cards will help them work on specific sounds to increase their intelligibility. Also, all of my students can benefit from the book and mystery box, which can be adapted to many speech or language activities. All of these materials will help provide a fun learning environment that will set the stage positively for a lifetime of learning.
