My Students
Every child can learn, they just learn differently. So my task at hand is to find the ways to reach my students. My special education students range from KK-third grade with various learning disabilities combined with mental health issues. Their academics are impeded by their disability and mental health issues. To add to their struggles, they come from low-income transient families (move around to various schools and housing). Even with their struggles and challenges, my students manage to attend school. It is my duty to dig deep and bring the positive to the front in spite of all they endure on a daily basis and make learning fun.
My Project
The use of technology in my classroom will allow me to work more with students at one time. For my struggling readers, I can individualize my lessons for reading skills and activities. The 4 laptops and 2 LeapFrog tablets are vital as they will help students with special needs to access, participate and progress in general curriculum.
This donation will provide independence to my students and motivate them to learn
The use of software and websites for my at-risk students will provide powerful and motivating opportunities to engage in learning activities and electronic quizzes and other instructional materials that will provide immediate feedback on performance.
