I teach a group of medically fragile and autistic students with individualized special needs at an elementary school in Kahuli HI. I am a new teacher to the school this year and come with many years of special education experience. My students are diverse with varying needs. They are eager to learn, creative, imaginative and curious. These students require many different modes of learning in all the curriculum areas. These students require modifications and adaptions to curriculum and materials. I want to provide an amazing learning experience to these inquisitive, compassionate, and creative learners.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a purpose and use. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! Our class currently has very limited supplies and materials as it is a new addition to the school this year. All of the materials requested will be put to use immediately for all of the students unique learning needs.
The curriculum materials will be used for all of our math and literacy centers and small group times.
The circle time chart and CD's will be used for morning and afternoon circle times. For our literacy time we will use all of the language arts materials for our station rotations, the language activity boxes, the phonemic awareness folder games and the CVC word materials. The math materials, flash cards, pattern blocks, Magna-Tiles, we requested will also be used for station rotations, and individual math needs.
We will use these materials for basic number sense activities, patterning, sorting, 1:1 correspondence etc. We are also requesting materials to work on fine motor needs and skills, the dot markers, peg board, puzzles and fine motor jars will be used for these skills. We have also requested flexible seating options so students have choices to sit and learn how they learn best and best meet their movement and sensory needs.. The materials requested are for varying levels to meet all of the students needs.
All of the requested materials will be used by all students during our whole group, small group and individual times to build community and focus on daily academic, sensory and social emotional needs.
