Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my special education students are so hardworking and lovely! However, they are in need of constant motivation, as a lot of them are victims of bullying; they tend to feel insecure due to differences in ability. I try to provide positive reinforcement every single day and tell them how awesome they are!! I teach both seventh and eighth graders at a Title 1 low-income middle school. Using this project, I will help reward students and provide them sustenance when needed.

Students come to school hungry, so I want to ensure I have things in the classroom for them to eat.

I have personally supplied my classroom with snacks over the last few months, but it is unsustainable. I love to have options for those in need of food, and for reinforcement that they are awesome and deserve to be celebrated for their efforts. This project will provide my students with the comfort that they will not go without food. I want them to know my classroom is a safe space and they are safe to ask for help.
