Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 5th grade reading in a low-income neighborhood, and our students often lack basic school supplies and other tools to be successful in their education. We try to provide as much as we are able to for them, and have wonderful support from administration and our community.

However, many of the items we need to stay organized and the tools we use on a daily basis are purchased by teachers in our school, including myself.

Over several years of use many of our organizational bins have been broken and damaged and need replacing. Students will store consumables and work folders in these on a daily basis. Pencils are always in high demand as many students do not bring these needed supplies with them. All of the items in this project will be used by students and with students on a daily basis in my classroom. This project will save me and student families hundreds of dollars to help keep our classroom organized and functional in the upcoming school year.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will contribute to keeping our classroom a safe, organized, efficient, and enjoyable learning environment. This is especially important for my students who do not have such a space in their personal life. From pencils and dry erase markers to storage bins for consumable books and unfinished work, everything in this project will be a vital component in my classroom next year.
