Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching a STEM lab this year and it will be the first hands on experience many of my students have with science and math. I want my students to make their own discoveries. My students are, in a word, awesome. They need the same opportunities as students from more advantaged areas. I want them to discover that education is a way for them to achieve their goals and dreams. Many of them would be the first in their families to achieve a college education.

My Project

These materials will further motivate my students to be active learners in STEM. The KNEX kit will allow them to build explore and manipulate DNA ans they work in the Biotechnology lab, while the Case of the Kidnapped Cookies will be a highlight and centerpiece of the Forensic Science lab. The root viewing kit is also gong to become one of the main activities in both the Plant Structure and Sustainable Agriculture labs.

My students are always highly motivated to learn when they are able to discover and solve problems on their own.

These materials will help provide experiences and learning opportunities that will help them become the critical thinkers and problem solvers of the future.
