My students need a Landform molding kit, a Science Fair display kit, an ecosystem book series, a force and motion book library, an activity kit about Forces and Motion and Simple Machines, and a Water Cycle Diagram (CD).
"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." - Confucius. Students learn and understand better when they can do hands-on activities. Your help will allow my students to explore and experience Science through a variety of hands-on resources.
I teach 51 5th graders Science everyday.
The students have different achievement levels, including special needs children and over 14 advanced learners. Each child is unique with his or her own strengths and weaknesses, family composition, extra curricular involvement, and talents. No matter how different each individual may be, they are all responsible for learning the 5th grade science curriculum. I want to provide them with high interest, hands-on exploration to Science.
My Project
My students need a Landform molding kit, a Science Fair display kit, an ecosystem book series, a force and motion book library, an activity kit about Forces and Motion and Simple Machines, and a Water Cycle Diagram (CD). My 51 5th Graders are required to study 4 strands of Science: Forces and Motion, Ecosystems, Landforms, and Weather. The resources selected will allow students to learn through the exploration of the forces and motion kit, simple machines kit, and land-form making kit. Students can manipulate the hands-on materials to strengthen their understanding of these abstract concepts. Students will also gain knowledge by reading some of the high interest books that accompany these units. Finally, each 5th grader is required to participate in our school Science Fair by submitting a project that features the scientific method. The resources selected for this project will help them through this process.
Your support will make a difference in the lives of real children.
Science is a part of who they will develop into as students. Help make their 5th Grade year memorable by giving students special materials and resources that will enhance their learning and strengthen the whole child.
