Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 550 students from grades K-5 in a diverse community. These students are happy and excited to come to school. They are all smiles each time I greet them at the Library doors eager to find out what we will be doing that day.

Stations are their absolute favorite activity as they get a choice in what they will do and are able to focus on something they really enjoy.

My Project

Once a month, students will be given a choice in participating in one of the stations that will have these amazing building and thinking toys in them. The squishy circuits will appeal to their senses as they try to problem-solve how to complete circuits for different outcomes. The magna tiles will challenge them spatially.

Students love this "free time" and don't even realize the skills they are gaining as they "play".

My students have been using legos to make creations both from their own imagination and by trying to meet the challenges I have given them. These new options will continue to spark their creative thinking skills.
