My Project
Students with special needs often lack the life skills needed to be successful after school. At our middle school, the comprehensive life skills class strives to instill student independence and self-reliance. We teach the students money and time management skills, reading, math, writing, and basic food preparation in order to survive. With the use of the Cricut Maker 3, our intent is to establish a student-run store within our school. In doing so, we believe this will help to develop a sense of pride, responsibility, and financial literacy while improving individual social and emotional needs among the students.
The students will learn the skills necessary to create a project from the product development stage all the way through the eventual sale of said product.
As the students raise money, they will gain a better understanding of the budget basics, i.e. budgeting, conservation, and profit and loss. Our project will begin slowly, and eventually work up to making (but not limited to) T-shirts, coffee mugs and cups, keychains, etc. With your help, we are very excited about the possibility of making this a reality. Thank you!
