My Project

As the new 2024-2025 school year approaches, it is imperative that the learning environment for my students be clean and conducive to learning.

My classes consist of 9th-12th grade students many with intellectual disabilities. I teach and accommodate many students who are on the high and low autism spectrum, non-verbal, physically impaired, and severely profound. My school is a Title I school and often lacks the funds and resources needed to buy and replenish sanitizing resources to ensure the classroom is sanitized daily throughout the school year. In addition, the accessibility to copy machines and copying paper is limited which delays copies being readily available for my students.

Many of my students approach the world with many physical and intellectual obstacles; yet daily they enter with an eagerness to learn. Your donations will enable me to create a sanitizing station, listening center, and printing station. Students will have access to supplies needed to sanitize and maintain various areas of our classroom, including desks, chairs, countertops, and shared learning materials. These materials will enable us to implement regular cleaning protocols to address health concerns. Additionally, the headphones will help accommodate students during different technological or reading activities and help them block out unwanted distractions. Lastly, the printing station will allow me to have access to print reports and various supplementary materials to accommodate my students with various disabilities.
