This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Welcome to LIFE Skills! This is a self-contained special education classroom for students with intellectual disabilities. We have grades 3-5 with a variety of different skills and levels. In my room, we focus on teaching academics in reading, writing, and math, as well as social skills, fine motor skills, and creativity.

With a small class of only 10 students, I am able to better differentiate my lessons and activities to fit each student and their individual needs.

Every day we are working to be better than the day before!

My Project

In order to better serve my students and their individual needs I need to prep most materials used based on each child. Many things need to be cut out and laminated ahead of time. Many of my students are non verbal and use pictures to communicate.

The supplies on this list like color ink and laminating paper will allow me to print and laminate different activities for each child to use based on their communication needs.

With a larger class size, I will be able to use the paper cutter to save time and cut out more things at the same time. The colored paper will provide my students with a variety of choices during arts and crafts projects.
