My Project

All of my amazing students in my Self-Contained Special Education classroom struggle with physical and emotional regulation. Making small changes to the physical environment of my classroom, particularly those changes that meet their individual sensory needs has made an impact on their engagement throughout the school day. However, the chairs, tables and learning spaces in my classroom are overall physically uncomfortable. The flex space chairs requested will provide my students sensory input needed to increase engagement during academic lessons. The various dynamic seating requested enhances self-regulation through stress reduction, decreasing hyperactivity, and increasing focus. This equipment engages the vestibular and proprioceptive systems of growing children.

My goal is to provide an adaptive environment to build their love of learning; develop self-awareness and independence.

The adaptive seating and equipment I am asking for will allow my students to be themselves, build their brains, regulate their bodies and participate in their learning!
