My Students
My Science class is a place where there are very little right and wrong answers because we are more focused on discovering new ideas while we are experimenting. My students are encouraged to ask questions and then go find the answers.
My students are very diverse ethnically and economically.
We range from million dollar houses on the golf course to a trailer park. As teachers, we work hard to try to make these differences disappear in the classroom. This begins with a teacher that provides an environment where all students feel comfortable and safe.
My Project
My ADHD students will have access to the balance balls so that they can better focus on the activities that their group is doing without getting the group off task by their need to move. The small movements needed to stay balanced keep their bodies engaged. This also will help them feel safe and understood by me and their peers.
As the mother of an ADHD child I know the emotional toll it takes on a child when their peers do not understand their need to move is not one that they can always control.
This special seating will allow them to fit in and better form relationships with their peers.
