This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students with learning exceptionalities are bright learners who love to thrive in a positive and reassuring class environment.
The program supports elementary age students with learning disabilities both the inclusive and resource setting.
Most students in our classroom come from low-income households and receive free lunches. My students strive with prescribed instruction to address their cognitive, academic, and behavior needs with visual supports, blended learning, small group instruction provided by myself. Our class fosters a positive community where all are welcomed and able to learn.
My Project
Last year, Ketcham Elemary Special Olympian's took home the gold in soccer. Help us go for the gold all season. My Special Olympiams are eager to participate in the year around the Special Olympics program in Washington, DC. Weekly, they attend training sessions on various sports. Their first sport is basketball followed by speed ice skating, soccer, and track and field.
We believe giving students with learning differences opportunities to develop their physical fitness, teamwork, and confidence, experience joy while participating in sports.
My team needs athletic gear to participate in the training sessions fully. The experiences help them gain their confidence through competitive play.
