Everyday the students within my special needs class are working diligently to showcase their talents beyond routine classwork and test scores. They create songs, poems, dance routines, and artwork. They are constantly thinking of new ways to express themselves and apply the skills honed within the classroom. They are creative minds!
My class is composed of twelve 4th grade students in a self-contained setting.
Each student is eager and enthusiastic about their education. They work in collaboration with one another on projects and produce several unique work samples throughout the year. Our school believes adamantly in performance-based assessment and projects where students are motivated to demonstrate their learning in unique and creative ways. In order to achieve these goals, students have choice and voice in creating their own assessments. We also have a fantastic dance and music program where students cultivate their talents to dance routines and choral sing passionately.
My Project
My students need quality sounding speakers so they can rehearse for dance and singing performances throughout the school building. It was extremely difficult rehearsing for our Winter Festival last December because we simply did not have speakers that could connect to bluetooth and play the music for our dance and singing performances. We rehearse in the gym, auditorium, classrooms, and lunch room. That is why we need them to be portable and quality sounding. We perform throughout the year and these speakers will serve multiple classes. These speakers will be used everyday during dance rehearsal and music class. Our dance program has gained a lot of popularity and parents look forward to large scale performances in Winter and Spring. This project would greatly improve the efficiency and quality of our arts programs.
