This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am privileged to teach a class of 15 special needs students in grades 9th -12th grade. All of my students receive free lunch. They range from non-verbal, non ambulatory, autistic, and Downs Syndrome. Even with these challenges, my students are always happy and excited about activities we do in our classroom.
After 30+ years of service, it's such a blessing to greet a classroom of eagerly awaiting students with their individual personalities and abilities.
My students are all very unique and make it a joy to go to work.
My Project
HELP! HELP! We need technology in our classroom to make it more engaging and productive. This project will help my students take a more active, unassisted approach to the lessons being taught. Currently, most of the students need a one-on-one approach to most of the lessons which are being taught, however once the concept is understood, they are able to move forward without much assistance. My students are eager to learn and very receptive of even the smallest amount of mastery. The Fire HD tablets will allow students to go to sites such as Star Fall, Brainpop and many more. This device will also give the students opportunities to go to various apps to assist with their educational growth.
