This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Can we play instruments today? My music students are eager to play music, sing and dance in my classroom. We perform everything from folk music to Broadway hits! Jazz to R&B! My school is 75% low-income and the students are eager to learn. Our population is 3/4 African-American with a large and growing Hispanic population. We are in a part of the state that isn't quite "the city" and it isn't quite "rural", but we are growing and are a district that is among the best in the state.
My Project
I teach music to students from kindergarten to 5th grade, regular classroom students and special needs students. My curriculum is based on Modern Band: guitar, keyboard, drums, and bass guitar. Many of my students have learning disabilities and some have motor skills deficiencies that make playing guitar traditionally difficult or impossible. The Chordbuddy system will help these students in the music classroom to play guitar effectively. They are super bright, and excited to learn and this will give them confidence and help them to be successful making music. The devices enable students to play full chords with the push of a button. With your generous help every kid can rock to the beat.
