My students have learning disabilities. They have trouble with short term memory. A whiteboard easel on wheels will allow them to gain confidence by easily writing and erasing their work. They need to gain confidence in individual and group work.
My students are all from the inner city.
They live in very difficult, dangerous, and crime-ridden areas. Our school was built in 1966. It is a comprehensive high school. Some students have to walk and some take public transportation. They want to live, learn, and try to succeed in life, but it is very difficult for them. The best place they have going for them in many instances is their school. They depend on the teachers and staff to provide emotional as well as educational support.
My Project
The students will love having new materials and resources for my classroom. They will gain a sense of pride in our class and their confidence. We rarely get new materials or resources in my class or school. The students will have space to write in front of the class with the whiteboard. This will give them much more space to write notes, questions, answers, and show off their skills as well as give them a way to easily erase and keep information. This will give them confidence plus increase group and individual work.
This easel will greatly increase the board space in my classroom.
The school was built in the 1960s and the blackboards are in bad shape. The students will benefit by allowing them to use the whiteboard as well as the teacher. The students will love the new equipment for my classroom. This will make them feel special as well as have practical impact.
