Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my Adapted Physical Education classes, all my students have disabilities. All my students need proper equipments to learn life-long physical activities.
Some diagnoses are with autism and some with intellectual disability.
All my students learned to play Frisbee in my class, but none of them ever played disc golf. Our school is title 1 school which means overall school students' population is low income and school API score is very low. School does not have enough money to buy necessary equipments for students with disabilities.
My Project
In my Adapted Physical Education classes, my students love to play Frisbee regardless of their skill level. Some students never played Frisbee until I introduced to them. I have a few students who are able to throw a regular Frisbee, but for most of my students it is still a hard activity. I would like to make it more fun by introducing disc golf where I can introduce a game of golf as well as disc golf. With volley superskin-2 discs and 9 hole set, students may learn to play disc golf for the first time in their life. I am certain that their view of recreation and sports will be wider and will continue to play throughout their life time. With resources, students will learn to play disc golf with proper hand position and learn to keep the score which involves addition and learn to work together by playing in a team.
I am very certain that your donations will make a difference in students' life.
I just want to express my gratitude toward DonorsChoose for giving us chance to expand my teaching opportunity as well as students' learning experience. You are not only helping them to participate in a Frisbee unit, but you are helping them to become a better player and you are letting them know that somebody care for them.
