Our school is located in rural Kentucky. We have half of our students that come from families with incomes below the poverty rate. We are also in close proximity to a military base and frequently we have children that are transitioning to a new home and school environment. Besides these challenging situations, we have begun to experience a drug epidemic in our small community which continues to grow and influence the area. Our students have many challenges before they even step foot in the door of the school.
My Project
With this project fully funded, we are going to add to our fine motor center. We have requested Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty and Holicolor and Resin Charms for hiding in our putty. This allows our little ones to get in some extra practice in for fine motor and to improve their handwriting. We will also use our Uni-ball pens to write parents back and forth for daily communication. Our Neenah Cardstock is to provide long-lasting visuals for routines. One of the most important items we are requesting is an adaptive sensory cushion for our chairs.
