I'm an itinerant teacher traveling all around Allegheny County seeing students at preschools, daycare centers, special education classrooms, homes and now virtually as well! I'm personally honored to serve a caseload of amazing preschool students who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf+. I also have the privilege to collaborate with many other amazing special education teachers and speech therapists in my program to support students all across in the county with a wide variety of developmental delays.
Flexibility is the middle name of all teachers and switching to virtual has definitely put that to the test!
Knowing that we'll be using a hybrid model this year these resources will help me and my team reach and teach students wherever they may be. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and we know that many do not have basic school supplies at home.
My Project
Donors were incredibly generous in helping us complete 100 kits for students who don't have resources at home. We have almost enough materials to make another 40 kits for students and are asking for help to just finish it off!
These students are all receiving special education services and the teachers, families and students are working so hard to continue to learn and grow during virtual instruction.
These materials will go a long way in keeping learning fun and engaging! We don't want to see our students regress during these challenging times. We know they are bright and amazing students who can be successful, thank you for supporting them!
