This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students, some from a lower socioeconomic setting, all have a special education diagnosis with an IEP. I have a wide range of learners: including everything from non-verbal Autistic, to Speech/Language impaired, to Learning Disabled, to those who struggle behaviorally. Each of them breaks down new material in an individual manner and technology strongly improves their ability to retain information, answer questions, and broaden their vocabulary. They also need a soothing place in the classroom to take a sensory break in order to increase compliance and productivity. Any support with gaining more tools would be tremendously appreciated! :)

My Project

My students have significant needs and there is a necessity for modifications/accommodations so that they can become more successful in and out of the classroom. They need more technology for increased motivation and engagement during work completion. They so enjoy using tablets, and it does not feel like work to them, even though they are learning while using them. They also need a space to take a sensory break. These supplies will help them achieve more, whether it be in the educational setting or in the real world, because they boost their self-regulation and communication skills. Correctly implementing these tools can help the students gain more strategies that will be used for the rest of their lives.
