Special Education Resources Provide Remediation and Support That Students Need

My Students

I absolutely love my district, my school, and particularly my special education reading classes. I teach 8th grade Reading, and my classes are full of energetic, deep thinkers, who struggle to read and comprehend. Their struggle seems even more real after the pandemic. They are a diverse group from a lower socioeconomic area in our district. They each have a unique learning disability or health impairment that impacts their learning. They each have different interests and learning styles and they love variety in their daily activities.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by helping them catch up on some skill deficits obtained during the Pandemic. The art supplies will allow these special education students to express themselves in alternative ways other than just with written words.

The curricular items will provide extra practice for everyone on their own level and ensure success for all.

They are pretty good at answering questions, but proving their answers with evidence from the text is a difficult and necessary skill.

The easel will be useful to display a daily schedule and remind students what to do next in a step by step clear way. The students will appreciate the mice! Some have disabilities that make it difficult to navigate the track pad. Each of these items will keep our classroom running smoothly and successfully.
