My students need these supplies for the new Technical Service in which they have started at our school. This will help gain 160 need hours. Our students have started a service for teachers to gain hours.
I work with special education students in North Carolina. My students have a moderate disability. They are working towards a career readiness high school diploma. The students are required to study general education courses, but work towards career readiness. During the 4 years of high school, students hold jobs, volunteer in our community, and become gainfully employed after high school graduation. These are remarkable students who are eager to work hard to earn from their accomplishments. If it were not for this program, many of these students would become high school drop-outs.
My Project
These students must complete 160 hours volunteering within the school environment during his or her freshman and sophomore years. These students have created a Technical Service for teachers in order to gain the required hours. The teachers will send in requisitions for these students into the classroom for a small amount of time and assist with classroom duties.
One duty is cleaning.
The students will sweep, mop, dust, rearrange desks and sanitize the desks. These items we are requesting will assist these students in their career goal while allowing them to earn a high school diploma becoming career ready.
Currently our students have job offers but we do not have the supplies to fulfill these job. The students are very excited about this opportunity as they want to become career ready in the future. Please remember, the students are required to be present in general education classes, but have other classes, such as this one, where they gain employ-ability opportunities.
