This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to help my students grow academically, socially-emotionally, and nutritionally. I want to provide a safe space for them.

My students love to engage and be hands-on, but they also don't always know how to properly use materials, so they must be taught repeatedly.

We go through a lot of materials, but they are necessary to help them learn. We use whiteboards as much as possible to save paper, and that means going through a lot of dry erase markers. We obviously do still have paper assignments and therefore, need lots of pencils. My students come from low income households and are always asking for seconds at breakfast or a snack midday. I try providing what I can for them, but it is hard to keep up with the demand. I want to make their education worth something and show them that they will get out of it, what they put into it.
