Special Education Math Lab With Tech Updates and Inviting Reading Room

Help me give my students a space for math and reading that has the needed technology to invite and inspire, and the sensory assist for special education students.

My Project

A rolling chair will go with the stand-up desk I was given and the technical items: cords, floor cord covers, desk outlets, and over-head camera will all allow me to move from station to station with all of my desks needs "in tow." I will be able to simply plug in from opposite areas as needed, and reach the entire classroom. The mobile projector screen will allow me to move it around to use for different small groups and subjects in designated areas of our classroom.

Math games make it more fun to learn math and create partner engagement when they are able to help each other in teams and solve the problems to try and win the game.

I have two math games already, but my current students are not quite able to do them with confidence to make it fun. One day at a time.

Magnetic word walls are a fun and creative way to teach sentence building. I have used these in classrooms in my student teaching semester and each day the students couldn't wait to "write" some sort of message on the word wall. Fortunately, I have the white board space to designate for this purpose, ELA learning and writing growth.

Our students only have a field to use at recess and rely on teachers to have a stash of classroom outdoor games to play. While other teachers are not on board with those purchases, I am lucky to acquire some equipment for outside as well as inside with my first-year teacher fund.

I am grateful for DonorsChoose in partnering with first-year teachers to create classrooms that have essential items as well as items that create comfort and ease for students since they do spend over 6 hours of their day with us.
