My Project

COVID-19 has had a negative effect on students' reading and writing abilities. The materials in this project will help students overcome the gap they have in the area of literacy. The composition notebooks will allow students to practice writing everyday, they have dotted lines and big spaces to foster appropriate handwriting. The sight word readers will give students access to books on their reading level that will promote fluency and build confidence. We will use the bean bag chairs, cushions, and ottomans in our library to make the space feel cozy, inviting, and safe. This will help relieve stress and anxiety that students may feel due to past 2 years of living through COVID-19. This will also encourage students to spend more time in our library reading books and improving reading fluency. The 2 iPad cases will be used for our classroom iPads that students use throughout the day. The iPads have apple pencils and they often fall while students are using them. These cases will allow the apple pencils to be secured into place and not lost.
