Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students significantly impacted by primary and secondary disabilities require explicit and in-person instruction. COVID-19 uniquely impacts them and causes a lack of in-person learning. The Abilitation Sensory Floor Tiles will be placed in the front of the room to help support with sustaining student attention and keeping them engaged with the lesson. The PCI Educational Publishing Survival Signs Curriculum Binder will be used to teach all students with severe cognative disabilities about indoor and outdoor survival signs and support our life skills and community-based instruction. The indoor and outdoor sign posters will support the content in the binder as well as help students who are non-verbal and use alternative communication. The Abilitations Fidget Cover for Weighted Lap Pad will be added to an existing weighted blanket for a student who uses the lap pad to focus when out in the general education classroom. The SchKlDules Education Bundle Visual Schedule System will be used daily at the beginning, middle, and end of the day to help students better understand our daily routines and support transition between activities with minimal behaviors. The Westminder Multi-Sensory Glacier Fiber Optic Light will be used daily with students to: help regulate emotions when students feel frustrated; support sustaining attention during our circle time; and encourage students to communicate their needs to access the tool. The Eureka Tub of Number Tile Manipulatives White 175 Pieces will support our current goals for students with Extended Evidence Outcomes and personal goals to identify, categorize, and use numbers with 1:1 correspondence. By donating to this project, you will not only help support increasing and improving student attention and engagement, you will also help provide our students with a curriculum to follow and learn about their local community signs. You are also helping support students with their goals related to mathematics.
