My students need books and manipulatives like Quizmo Geometry and the Volumetric Solids Set to help differentiate instruction. I am a Special Education teacher in a Standardized Testing setting. The manipulatives will be extremely helpful.
I will be working with a variety of students who come from all different SES. I am a special education teacher and will be using resources to help modify assignments for my students.
My students' disabilities vary from Specific Learning Disabilities, OHI (Other Health Impairment), Orthopedic, Auditory, and Visual Impairments.
These manipulatives, coloring books, Modified Content Workbooks will help my students work in ways that cater to their preferred way of learning (auditory, visual, spatial, tactile-kinesthetic). I am very excited about this upcoming school year.
My Project
I have been a Special Education teacher for three years. I taught 6-8 Grade Social Studies. I recently moved across the country from San Antonio to Winchester, Virginia. I was recently hired at a high school and will be teaching Biology and Geometry in a general education setting with a combination of Gen Ed and Spec Ed students. I will also be teaching two resource sections of each subject. I have limited resources as I am new to the STEM spectrum.
These resources will enable me to become a better teacher for my students through differentiating instruction.
The workbooks will provide my students with a modified supplemental activity. The binders, clips, and dividers will be used to help organize all of the kids on my case load's IEP's, schedules, State Assessment information. The anatomy models are three dimensional and will enhance the learning of those who are tactile/kinesthetic learners. The Volumetric Sets will help my students manipulate different shapes, pyramids, and prisms to calculate area and volume applying the appropriate formula. The Quizmo Geometry board game will help reinforce taught concepts and Theorems. The paper biology coloring book will help reinforce concepts and the terminology of the human body to those with an Artistic Multiple Intelligence. The cell models will provide my students with a 3D model to play around with to learn the different parts of the cell and their function. The book Differentiating Instruction With Menus will provide the students with ownership of their learning through choice. The Volumetric Solids Classroom Activities Teachers Guide will provide me with great activities to prepare my students for their end of the year Standards of Learning State Standardized Test. As a teacher, I go through hundreds of pencils every year. So, the pencils will assist my students who are chronically unprepared for class.
