Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The rescuers included in this project will be used for a new teaching adventure ESE Pre-K Summer School. The students of my school come from high poverty environments that do not always meet their needs. As a teacher of special needs students it is critical that we meet the child where they are at and address the whole child. Many of these students are expected to be prepared for mainstreamed Kindergarten by August so it is critical that they have pencil grips to begin the process of writing. That they are able to make connections to letters and numbers using sensory tools and hands-on learning. Lastly, these student need anchor chart supports to connection to critical content through scaffolding.

These products will ensure that any developmental delays don't stand in the way of our preschool students growth.

Our underlying goal is that these students are engaged in new learning experiences, are ready to make necessary transitions, and utilize tools that level the playing field. These students need to build background knowledge and make connections that build a foundation for their educational journey to come.
