Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first-year teacher who teaches twenty-seven lovely fifth-grade boys and girls in Spanish Harlem. As an organized person, I know that having children be well organized can make or break their success in school. I've done what I can to help organize my kids (e.g., color-coded folders for each subject, correspondence envelopes for notes and fliers that have to go home to their parents), but my personal budget only goes so far. Hence, I'm looking for some assistance to take our organization to the next level.
I would like to purchase a mailbox organizer where students can store all of the materials they will need during the day (their desks are not big enough to accommodate their textbooks, folders and notebooks). Further, if each child has his/her own box, then it will be easier for me to hand back homework, leave students notes, disseminate notes home, and much more. By having one central place for homework and written communication in the classroom, we will have less paper flying around the room so that the kids can just grab the items from their mailbox and hit the ground running.
Please help me on my quest to get my students organized so they can achieve academic success.
