My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is the best third grade class in the whole world?" and they reply, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach at a low-income/high poverty school district where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
I am asking for a special chair for our classroom. Many lessons during the day are led by students. I feel having a special chair will help my students feel confident and excited about learning. Student-led learning allows a student to be the teacher. It puts the power of learning into the hands of a student. By teaching others, it allows students to recall information-in detail what they have learned. Student-led learning gives them ownership over their learning. Student-led learning also increases a student's verbal communication skills.
I want to empower my students with their learning.
I want my students to show off what they know and at the same time support their peers.
Sitting in a special "teacher chair" and teaching a group of peers will help support my students and give them a sense of pride and accomplishment.
