My classroom consists of 16 students with the need to talk! My students enjoy encouraging one another and helping each other learn. One positive way I incorporate discussion into my day is through student discourse and accountable talk. Encouraging my students to not only the things the agree on but discuss topics that they have different view points on is vital to share ideas, clarify understandings, strong language development, and see things from other perspectives.
The Q-Ball microphone will give all of my students a voice and get everyone involved in student discourse!
This microphone will connect to the classroom's speakers and allow even our quietest voices with big ideas to be heard. The Q-Ball will continue to help my students develop strong language skills throughout our entire day in a more fun and engaging ways!
My Project
The best part about helping us incorporate a Q-Ball into our classroom, students will be used across all subjects! Not only will students be able to share their thoughts proudly for their classmates to hear, but the added engagement of being able to throw the microphone can't be matched.
During reading, writing, and math students will be able to participate in a variety of discourse strategies and actually be heard.
This engaging microphone will give my students the opportunity connect with their peer's by listening to them directly. It is important not to directly repeat student responses as to not emphasize one opinion more than another's. Help me promote higher level thinking for my students so they can more actively listen to each other.
