This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Old stages do not allow sound to travel. Even a student who is yelling cannot be heard in the last row. Unlike the professional theatrical performances at Disneyland where all cast members are heard.

My students are amazing young adults who strive to achieve their highest goals despite the struggling economy.

They continuously find ways to participate in the community and in school and give back to those who have helped them become successful. My students attend this public school because of our diverse arts opportunities including major main stage productions, theatre competitions and well rounded arts education.

My Project

The items we are asking help to purchase are necessary to aid my students in performances on our Little Theatre stage. Students, no matter how well they project, at times cannot be heard. These materials will update our sound systems and create an environment for students where they can perform, be heard and learn the technical side of sound design. The VAPA State standards state that students should be able to "Design, produce, or perform scenes or plays from a variety of theatrical periods and styles, including Shakespearean and contemporary realism" and "Demonstrate an understanding of the professional standards of the actor, director, scriptwriter, and technical artist". The equipment will allow students to not only attain strong performances on stage but also give them the tools they need to understand the technical aspects of professional theatre.

Some students muster up the courage to get on stage for the first time in the theatre program at FUHS.

It is important that they are also provided an opportunity to be heard. I am hoping that this sound equipment will give the students the support they need to continue their theatre studies.
