My Students

I teach an amazing group of elementary students who all have dyslexia. I get to work with them everyday on improving their spelling, reading, and writing skills, but they really teach me the most about perseverance and determination. These students never give up and willingly take risks every day. They learn to find their strengths and build upon them.

They are truly an inspiration and so much fun to work with daily.

I have students from multiple different grade levels and they all have their own needs. Some of them struggle with reading and decoding words, others have a hard time spelling or writing. I work with them to overcome their obstacles and learn that it is ok to ask for help when you need it.

My Project

Students with dyslexia often have a hard time getting their ideas down on paper. Having headphones with microphones would allow them to use the text-to-speech feature. It will open up a new world for these kids who struggle to get their ideas down. It will help them feel successful and show all that they can do! They already work so hard, I would love to be able to give them a chance to concentrate on the content of their writing instead of how to spell the words. Please consider helping me give this small gift which will make such a big difference!!
