Students with special needs require special accommodations to access the world around them. We are a self-contained SPEAK Transition program that primary services those students with autism and/or intellectual disabilities. Having the appropriate technology in the classroom makes the difference in whether or not a student is able to successfully gain employment after high school.
By utilizing technology, we are able to train students to be not only employees, but contributing citizens.
Most jobs now require the use and knowledge of technology, even for cleaning and stocking. Every year more and more companies are going fully digital, which means the students we service are put at an even higher disadvantage than their typically developing peers.
Having the ability to simulate job skills, access their online curriculum, and gain knowledge of technology would give these students a leg up that they would not normally have. The accommodations that technology has integrated helps students read more, write more, and communicate effectively to those around them. We would be so grateful to have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
