Help me give my students updated, portable technology (an iPad, carrying case, and TPT gift card for apps) so they can improve their communication skills.
I teach K-12 Speech-Language Impaired students in my local school district where I currently serve kids on three different campuses. We live in a low-income area with 100% of the students currently receiving free lunches and breakfasts in the school district. Because of the area we live in, we have limited resources for updated technology.
My students are striving to be good communicators.
They are enthusiastic about learning but have limited technology to facilitate and encourage learning.
Middle school and high school students require portable technology, due to the lack of classroom space available on those campuses, to help facilitate their learning. We incorporate a variety of learning activities into each and every session to help them become better communicators within their world. They love to participate in speech therapy but would like to have some updated materials to use during sessions.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad, carrying case, and resources from Teachers Pay Teachers. We use the iPad daily in my speech therapy sessions. When traveling to three campuses within the district an iPad gives my students a portable way to learn through technology due to the lack of classroom space available on the different campuses. Our current iPad is eleven years old and will not support any more app updates or web pages that engage my students in active practice and learning.
The donations to the project will replace our eleven-year-old iPad and allow the students to actively engage in current technology to facilitate their communication skills.
The TpT gift card will be used to purchase activities and materials to be used on the iPad. We have been using the same materials for the past eleven years. Because of the cost of specialized speech therapy apps and updated technology, my students are unable to advance in their communication skills.
Middle school and high school students require different web pages such as Boomlearning.com that is unavailable on our current iPad.
Please help my students speak and be heard by allowing them to engage in current technology.
