I teach a diverse population of learners. My students have a disability in Autism and require unique and specialized resources to meet their educational goals. My students need different resources to access the grade level curriculum.
The students are always so happy to arrive at school and are ready to learn, but require certain learning tools to meet their needs.
I have a deep passion for the Speak Transition program and want to provide every student with the best learning experience.
My Project
We are requesting books on my students' levels so that they can continue to grow and improve their reading skills. The leveled book sets that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! I am looking at adding a classroom library of books at their reading levels that will strengthen their learning.
The classroom library will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create.
My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-they read independently there, they complete work there, and they can relax there! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read.
All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
Hurricane Harvey destroyed homes, damaged properties, and left many of our students displaced. We are Texas Strong, and we are a community that sticks together and helps our fellow neighbors and friends.
Our students will give back to the community by learning about how to better help the world we live in.
