Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The headphones with a microphone are needed for my English language learner students to improve their pronunciation while using a computer program to learn how to read. My students will be able to hear their own voices clearly and distinctly, as well as the computer program speakers' voices. This way, my students focus on the sound and production of individual letters, words and phrases.
Additionally, my students will use the microphone to record their own voice and play it back to compare their pronunciation to the programs in a variety of language learning activities, such as phonics, spelling and pronunciation drills.
Sometimes, they are shy to speak loudly into the computer microphone because of their pronunciation, so having a headphone with a microphone will make them feel more confident since they won't have to speak as loudly.
Overall, using headphones with a microphone can be a very useful tool for ELL students to improve their pronunciation and become more confident and proficient speakers of English.
