This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students really love coming to school. Our school is a Title I school with 100% free breakfast and lunch, which means that our students come from low income families. They deal with a lot of stress at home and that stress most often comes with them when they enter the school building.

In my classroom, I focus on capturing the hearts of students by building meaningful relationships with each child.

Having a positive impact on our students is very important to every person who works at our school. We know that the stress that the kids bring with them from home can greatly impact how they learn. Teachers and staff strive each and every day to make sure that we speak to students in the hallways, we shake their hands as they enter the classrooms, we sit and talk with students at lunch, and we play with them at recess. We understand that our students come first. We understand that in order for us to be able to teach them, they have to feel safe and loved by the people around them. Each teacher at my school genuinely loves teaching!

My Project

These materials will be so useful for my students! My kids love all of the neat content and graphics in these magazines! These materials will help bring a love of learning into my room.

These Scholastic News Magazines help me integrate different types of texts and content into my lessons!

These magazines are great for teaching about nonfiction reading and text features. I also had previous students be so interested in the topic of an article that they will ask for more books on that same topic! With the addition of these materials, I can tie interesting lessons to the articles that interest my students that will really make my students learning so impactful!
