My Project
My students eagerly participate in their counseling services each week. They always come with a huge smile. They enjoy opportunities to interact with their peers and are working hard towards their goals to develop healthy emotion regulation and social skills. Play therapy is often a big component of their counseling sessions. It is a chance for them to practice sharing, taking turns, self-advocacy, and problem-solving skills in a fun and natural way. Play therapy also helps students express their feelings and develop frustration tolerance and confidence.
All of the games, toys, and puzzles in this project were specially selected for students to use in their play therapy sessions.
The students have been asking for Magna-tiles to use in the counseling office. Building different structures will help the students work through challenges and develop a sense of accomplishment, all while fostering collaboration and problem solving. The cash register will liven up our role-plays which help students practice real-life social interactions. These activities will expand the opportunities that they have to learn new and healthy ways of interacting with others.
