How do we prepare students for jobs that don't exist yet? The answer is technology and collaboration. If you take a look around the workplace right now, collaboration and technology are the cornerstone.
This year, I have a fantastic group of inquisitive and creative third graders.
Their faces brighten with the use of technology, but unfortunately, many do not have computers or internet at home to use. I know that with the addition of these computers, we will be able to integrate technology into our everyday routine!
My Project
With three Chromebooks in my classroom, I will be able to transform our learning environment into one that is collaborative. By using Goggle Apps for Education, my students are able to collaborate with myself, other teachers and administrators, and their peers on writing projects. Instead of a computer only being a part of the publishing process, my students are now seeing the value of collaboration and technology from the inception of an idea. I hope my students will learn technology and collaboration skills that they can take past third grade and in to the work place 15 years from now.
Watching my students work with this technology is eye opening.
They are working with each other and giving positive and constructive feedback. They are creating pieces of writing with more enthusiasm because they are learning valuable technology skills at the same time. My hope is that their excitement with this technology can continue to make an impact on their future in the workplace.
