My Students
Our classroom is a place where students strive for excellence and embrace the many learning opportunities that come their way. Located on the island of Oahu, our school serves approximately 350 students from preschool to grade 6. We have the best students around! I have the privilege of teaching 17 of them this school year, 9 boys and 8 girls. These kids are so special because they are resilient, having spent the last school year going from distance learning to blended learning and then to in-person learning. I hope to serve not just as their teacher, but hope to inspire them in pursuit of their goals. The students in my class love to read and write! They love to conduct research on topics of interest and create products that demonstrate their learning.
One reason why I enjoyed being in this class was it was full of friendships and laughter.
We are indeed a learning community! Our faculty is not just committed to academic excellence, but are also committed to providing experiences for students to explore their interests, work on interpersonal and collaboration skills, remain engaged and challenged, and pursue their goals!
My Project
The materials that you are helping to fund will make a tremendous impact on our students' learning! The books will allow each of my students to be able to find joy in reading, sparking their curiosity. The novels will be used in a whole-class study of various genres (adventure, historical fiction, and biography) and will be great anchor texts as models for students' writing pieces. The other books will be great additions to our classroom library for independent reading in class and at home.
All of the art materials will help spark our students' creativity.
Students will be able to create fun art projects and find joy in their creations. Their artwork will be part of a year-long study of the unique and amazing world we live in, from the Statue of Liberty in the USA, to cheetah and flamingo in Botswana and Kenya, the unit promises to be fun with all of our new art materials!
