I am a teacher in a Title 1, low-income, school. Many of my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of my students are being raised in single parent households, many are hearing English for the first time, and many have moved multiple times this year, etc. For many, school and my classroom are their only constant. From the moment my students walk in my door, I help them learn to believe in themselves! My goal is to always help them be the best THEY can be! My students are amazing! I feel I learn just as much from them as they do from me!
Despite their many challenges my students love to learn!
I am looking to have enough technology in my classroom that we will be at a 3:1 ratio. By having a 3:1 IPAD ratio I hope to help keep my students fully engaged and take their learning far beyond the classroom!
My Project
Having an additional 6 tablets in our classroom will allow for many fun and engaging activities to encourage learning. Tablets will allow us to take virtual field trips as we read stories that come from all over the world. It will open doors beyond our classroom door! Students will have the opportunity to work on apps like Education.com and Raz-Kids that allow me to differentiate learning for each individual student. With more tablets my students will be able to work with partners to show, share, and own their learning in a variety of different ways. My ELL students will have have access books and games that will help teach the English language!
This project will make a difference in my students learning because it will open doors beyond our classroom and engage them in learning!
My classroom is not yet at the level of technologically to meet my students needs as learners. In a class of 18 students I have 6 tablets. This Donors Choose project will help to reach my goal of a 2:1 student/tablet ratio!
