Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is the district’s designated Two-Way Immersion program site, where half the students speak Spanish as a first language, and half speak English or another language. It is a vibrant community.

Unlike most elementary schools in the district, our school traditionally enrolls a high percentage of families qualifying for free or reduced school lunch.

Our school community strives to close the achievement gap in as many ways possible. Our students thrive more strongly when their families are involved, and a family science night brings everyone together!

My Project

This project will be the basis for engaging and fun stations at Family Science Night where students and their families will do hands-on exploration of science concepts.

Students and their families will love making circuit boards and robots with the materials I am requesting.

SparkFun Inventors' kits will spark circuit-making fun with lights, sound, and motion. Families will program colorful Circuit Playground Express boards. Kids will find and grow the inventor in themselves using the the pieces in the littleBits STEAM kit.

Science night always draw a big crowd, across all our grades TK-5. Our families look forward to the annual Science Night event, and we want to keep their excitement going with new and engaging materials!
