Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten class is a vibrant group filled with curiosity, energy and eagerness to explore. Their creativity easily helps turn simple moments into great opportunities for learning and discovery. With their lively personalities and thirst for knowledge, my students have helped build a joyous space where learning truly comes to life.
Integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities into kindergarten education helps to promote holistic development by nurturing cognitive, social, and emotional skills that are essential for lifelong learning.
The magnetic tiles, base plates, play dough, building toys and bricks, and other items asked for in this project will give students multiple opportunities for STEM activities in our classroom. This will provide students with activities that will spark their curiosity and drive them to build, create, think critically, problem-solve, collaborate with peers, and innovate. These manipulatives will help me introduce STEM activities that will also help my kindergarten students approach challenges logically and creatively. Additionally, the hands-on experiences my students will receive from the STEM activities will help promote sensory exploration and increase understanding through direct interaction with the STEM items. These activities will help my kindergarten students to build a strong foundation that will allow for academic success in the future, especially in the subjects areas of science and mathematics.
One major skill that will also be targeted with the STEM activities is collaboration. My students will have to engage in collaboration and teamwork with peers as they work using the STEM activities. They will communicate their ideas with peers in their teams. They will work together to complete the activities and decide on changes needed.
