Our school is located in the district of Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our community has been affected by lava flows, hurricanes, and currently Covid-19, but my students are resilient and eager to learn.
My students are diverse and come from many different backgrounds, but most of them come from low socioeconomic statuses.
They are creative, innovative, and eager to learn. My goal for this year is to make my students feel loved and at home in my classroom.
My Project
These Scholastic News Magazines will help keep my students informed of current events. These magazines are written to appeal to 3rd graders and helps encourage them to read fun, exciting articles while learning Science and Social Studies. I want my students to have the joy of reading from a variety of resources.
Each magazine subscription comes with a digital version and deepens knowledge and promotes further investigation of the topic with videos and interactive activities.
My students will also be able to take the magazines home to their families and share what they have learned.
