My Project
In my second-grade dual language immersion classroom, my students are on an incredible journey to become bilingual, learning and growing every day. But learning a new language is about so much more than vocabulary and grammar; it’s about connection, expression, and confidence. With Playmobil sets, my students will create their own imaginative worlds and bring them to life through stop-motion videos. These specific items aren’t just toys; they’re tools for storytelling, creativity, and deep engagement in Spanish.
Making a difference:
Each Playmobil character or scene gives my students a chance to visualize, develop, and act out their own stories in Spanish. This hands-on approach allows them to move beyond the limits of a textbook, using their new language in fun, personal, and meaningful ways. By creating stop-motion videos, they’ll gain pride in presenting their work to others, narrating their stories with their own voices. These materials bring language to life in ways that can inspire even the quietest of students to find their voice.
Setting my goals:
My goal for this project is to strengthen my students’ language production and storytelling skills in Spanish while fostering a deep sense of creativity and collaboration. Through this project, I want each student to feel like an author, an animator, and a storyteller in Spanish, building confidence in their language skills and pride in their ability to communicate.
My students are a unique:
They are a blend of emerging bilinguals, many from immigrant families, all with different stories to tell. They are hardworking, curious, and excited to learn Spanish, but they need the right tools to help them grow. They have limitless creativity and are always ready to dive into new adventures. This project will help them see the beauty of their voices and cultures as they bring their stories to life.
